Chronicles of a small industrialist who dreams of reenchanting France – Episode 15 :
Heading due west with Justine Mettraux, her Imoca and the industry of the future!
This week, I had the chance to meet Justine Mettraux, the fastest woman in the Vendée Globe. Wow! A star who is charting her course offshore with daring, determination and a humility that commands respect.
She’s not setting off to run away, she’s setting off to come back stronger, further and faster. Just like our companies. Like our industry, which sometimes sets out to conquer faraway lands!
Justine is supported by the SNEF Group, which celebrated its 120th anniversary at the Chapelle de la Trinité.
120 years of loyalty to technology, engineering, know-how and France. A Marseille-based company that has become a Lyon-based company with EKIUM, Visiativ and ABGi France, a global flagship – without ever forgetting where it comes from. That’s the right approach: innovate, face the roaring forties and howling fifties, but keep your foot on the ground.
As in an ocean race, the industry can do nothing on its own. You need a close-knit team, a clear course, sharp instruments, and… courage, especially when the storm is raging.
Tomorrow’s factory will be like a well-prepared boat: sober, fast, robust, and driven by men and women who dream beyond the horizon!
“To go fast, go alone. To go far, go together”. (African proverb, Grégoire‘s favourite, but tailor-made for shipyards and oceans)!
What if we had as much to learn from sailors as we do from workers? What if crew spirit was our best response to the challenges of the century?
So let’s set a course for the future. Justine is heading due west. It’s up to us to follow her compass and sextant!
Thank you Isabelle Dréau, Olivier Jouven, Stephane Corteel, Laurent Fiard, Philippe Lanoir, Jean-François Yot and a nod to Davy Tissot and Alban GUYOT.
